Mechanical Engineering Department

Introduction

Established in the year 1984-85.
Started the PG course in the year 1994-95.
Prof.G.J.Vikhe M.E.(Mech) is the head of the department.
The department has done extensive research in the areas of design of machine components, mechanical vibration, heat exchangers, Fluid machinery etc.
The department has liasionship with near by industries for technology, up-gradation, industrial visits and training of staff.

There are 9 well equipped laboratories. Some of the important equipments and facilities available in the department include.

CAD/CAM lab (LAN with 4.1 Novel Network) with 15 No. Pentiums, A1/A2 size plotter.

Tool room microscope, Surface finishes measuring equipment, Profile projector

Auto Collimeter and Precision Dial Indicator

Ultrasonic Flaw Detector

Vibration Measurement Equipment

Metallurgical Microscope with CCTV attachment

Computerized Friction & wear monitoring test rig.

The department has expertise to design and organize specialized courses for training the technicians in Mechanical Draftsmanship, Heat Treatment, Microstructures, Operation and Maintenance of Hydraulic Machinery and I.C.Engines, Vibration Analysis, Machine Tool operations, Tool Designing based on the needs of industries. The department has arranged expert lectures, Workshops etc. for the continuous up gradation of the expertise of staff and to keep the students abreast of the latest developments in the field.
